The terms

The original text, diagrams, charts and frameworks on this site — and in the research report behind it — are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0) Ninglekhu/ku heritage documentation project 2026 C. You may copy, redistribute, adapt and build upon them, for any purpose including commercially, provided you give appropriate credit and license your version under the same terms.

The attribution string

For text rather than a figure, name the page and the site: “ninglekhu.com, CC BY-SA 4.0”, with a link where a link is possible. Every image on this site also carries its own credit line, and the machine-readable register of every asset — creator, source, licence, date checked — is published at /credits.json.

What is not ours to license

• Quoted material — passages quoted from books, journals, newspapers and websites remain under their original terms. The citation names the source; reuse of the quotation is a matter between you and that source.
• The Sirijunga glyphs in the script chart are rendered in Noto Sans Limbu and the glyph designs remain under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1 Noto Sans Limbu A. The chart itself is CC BY-SA 4.0.
• Contributed material — recordings, documents and photographs given by families are published under the consent their contributor gave, at the tier they chose, and are not covered by the site licence. Ask before reusing them.
• Names and personal data. The licence permits copying text; it does not permit republishing a living person’s details against their wishes.

An invitation to other clans

Other Limbu clans are explicitly invited to adapt the structure of this site, the evidence-grading scheme, the oral-history protocol and the editorial standard for their own record, with attribution Ninglekhu/ku heritage documentation project 2026 C. That was one of the two purposes the underlying research was commissioned for.

Two practical notes if you do. Encode Limbu in Unicode — the block is U+1900–U+194F, and text stored in a legacy hacked font is unsearchable, uncopyable and invisible to screen readers Unicode Consortium 2003 A. And publish your grade key: a scheme nobody can see is not a standard.
