The strongest version of this site is not a site about the clan; it is the place where the clan keeps its record. Send a memory, a paper, a photograph or a correction.

Before you send something

  • Consent first, in the speaker's own language: what the recording is for; whether it goes on the public web, into a restricted archive, or stays with the family; whether the speaker's name is used; and how to withdraw it later.
  • Names, dates and places. “My grandfather” becomes evidence when it becomes “my grandfather, [name], born about [year] at [village]”.
  • Mundhum recitation and the knowledge of ritual specialists may be restricted to initiated practitioners. Ask whether a passage may be published, and accept no for an answer — the restricted tier exists for this.
  • Give a copy back to the family, always, before anything is published.

Answering: What is the seventeen-thum list referenced in Dambar Chemjong’s dissertation?

What are you sending?

Needed only if you ask us to publish it.

So we can come back to you with questions. It is never published.

Names, dates and places help more than anything else.

Optional. An image, a PDF or an audio recording, up to 25 MB.

What may we do with it?
